How to Do 420 Week Like a New Yorker
A practical game plan: getting on the lists, pacing yourself, getting around, and the etiquette that gets you invited back.
Seven days, dozens of plans, one city that doesn’t slow down. Whether it’s your first 420 week or your fifth, a little strategy goes a long way.
1. Get on the lists early
The best events cap capacity, and some only share locations with ticket holders. Follow organizers on Instagram, turn on post notifications, and join the Insider List so lineup drops hit your inbox first.
2. Buy tickets before the weekend
Weekend events around April 20 move fastest. If a ticket link is live, don’t wait for the group chat to decide.
3. Bring ID — every time
Every legitimate 420 week event is 21+. Expect to show a valid government ID at the door, even if you look like you’ve been doing this since the ’90s.
4. Pace yourself
It’s a week, not a night. Eat real meals, drink water, and if you’re trying edibles, start with a low dose and give it time before taking more.
If dabs are part of your plan, the Puffco Peak Pro is New York 420 Week’s go-to e-rig: an electronic rig with preset heat settings, so there’s no torch to deal with while you’re out.
5. Leave the car at home
Driving high is illegal and dangerous. The subway, a rideshare or a sober friend will get you between Manhattan, Brooklyn and Jersey just fine.
6. Respect the room
Follow each venue’s consumption rules, ask before you photograph people, and tip the staff who make the night happen. The community is small — good guests get invited back.
