Who Makes New Jersey’s Top 50 Cannabis Brands
Multistate operators control 24 of the state’s 50 best-selling brands and make two-thirds of their dollars. But over the last 30 days, their house brands gave ground — and the fastest climbers were made by smaller New Jersey operators.
New Jersey’s licensed dispensaries sold an estimated $1.02 billion of cannabis between January 1 and September 21, 2026. About $970.8 million of that is tagged to 787 named brands, and 50 of those brands took $684.5 million — 70.5% of all brand-tagged sales.
We ranked all 50 by estimated retail sales, then asked who owns each brand and who actually makes it in New Jersey. Every owner and maker came from company releases, securities filings, New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission (CRC) license records or trade press. Where no source names the New Jersey maker, we say so instead of guessing.
The short version
Multistate operators dominate the top. Twenty-four of the 50 are MSO house brands, worth 58.5% of top-50 dollars. Another seven are national brands made in MSO facilities under licensing deals. Together, 67.3% of top-50 dollars come out of MSO facilities.
The best-selling brands are almost tied. Rythm (GTI) beat Ozone (Ascend) by $78,000 after each sold about $42 million. Ozone sold 404,000 more items; Rythm charged $13.44 more for each.
Ascend makes the most. Counting its own brands and the national brands it makes under deals, Ascend’s New Jersey facilities produced $100.2 million of top-50 sales. GTI follows at $77.2 million, then TerrAscend at $74.8 million.
The MSOs lost ground in the last 30 days. Their house brands fell from 41.3% of brand sales for the year to 39.4% between August 22 and September 20. New Jersey independents rose from 8.9% to 9.4%. The two biggest climbers, Craft Kings and 710 Labs, are both made by smaller New Jersey operators.
The top 50 trace back to few makers. New Jersey has 75 licensed cultivators. The top 50 brands come from 19 of them — counting one inferred link — plus four manufacturers that don’t hold grow licenses. For three brands, the maker isn’t public.
How we sorted the brands
Every brand falls into one of four groups, plus a fifth for brands whose New Jersey maker we couldn’t confirm:
- MSO house brand — owned by a multistate operator that grows, makes and sells in New Jersey. That covers GTI, Ascend, TerrAscend, Curaleaf, Verano, Ayr, Acreage, iAnthus, Illicit and Justice Grown.
- National brand · MSO-made — an out-of-state brand whose New Jersey product is made by one of those MSOs under a licensing deal (Cookies, Wana, Airo, Miss Grass, Lowell, Grön, Timeless).
- National brand · smaller NJ maker — an out-of-state brand made in New Jersey by a company that isn’t a vertically integrated MSO here, often the brand’s own New Jersey license.
- NJ independent — a brand that started in New Jersey and is made by a New Jersey-only company.
- NJ maker not disclosed — national brands where no public source names the New Jersey producer (Rove, Wyld, Yeti Farms).
By MSO we mean a company licensed in more than one state that grows, makes and sells in New Jersey. Illicit and Justice Grown pass that test but are far smaller than the others, and we note that where it matters.

Nos. 1–10: eight MSO brands, a Massachusetts vape and a Vineland farm
The top ten account for $305.1 million, 31.4% of all brand-tagged sales. Eight are house brands of multistate operators. The two that aren’t are Fernway, a Massachusetts vape brand that makes its own New Jersey product, and Garden Greens, a family-owned grower in Vineland.

1. Rythm — Rythm finished first by $78,000 — $42.10 million to Ozone’s $42.02 million — and also led the last 30 days. It sold 943,532 items at $44.62 each. Rythm was built by Green Thumb Industries (GTI). In August 2025 GTI sold the brand rights to Agrify, which renamed itself RYTHM, Inc., and licensed them back. GTI still grows, makes and sells it in New Jersey through RISE, so we count it as a GTI brand. Rythm sells pre-rolls, flower and vapes.
2. Ozone — Ozone sold more items than any brand in New Jersey: 1,347,715 of them, 404,000 more than Rythm, at $31.18 each. It is Ascend Wellness Holdings’ flagship brand, made in Ascend’s New Jersey facilities, and sells mostly flower and pre-rolls. It held No. 2 over the last 30 days.
3. Fernway — Fernway is the top brand in New Jersey not made by a multistate operator: $39.83 million at $64.17 per item, the highest price in the top ten. It is a Massachusetts vape company that calls itself independent. It holds its own New Jersey manufacturing license (Fernway Garden State, Lawnside), so it isn’t on the state’s cultivator list. It held No. 3 over the last 30 days.
4. Legend — TerrAscend’s Legend is No. 3 by items (840,567). TerrAscend describes it as quality flower at everyday prices, and it also comes as carts and mini pre-rolls. It held No. 4 over the last 30 days, but its share of brand sales fell from 3.45% for the year to 2.87%.
5. Select — Select is Curaleaf’s vape brand: $26.88 million at $47.45 per item. It slipped to No. 9 over the last 30 days.
6. Garden Greens — Garden Greens is the highest-ranked New Jersey independent: a family-owned, female-founded grower in Vineland with $25.42 million in sales. It also makes Pete’s Farmstand (No. 24). Together the two brands sold $35.8 million — more than any MSO brand except Rythm and Ozone.
7. Savvy — Savvy is a Verano line selling edibles, flower and vapes. It took $24.69 million but slipped to No. 11 over the last 30 days.
8. Simply Herb — Simply Herb is Ascend’s value brand, selling flower and vapes. It is one of three Ascend house brands in the top 20. It climbed to No. 5 over the last 30 days.
9. Kind Tree — Kind Tree is TerrAscend’s second brand in the top ten and No. 4 by items (676,705) at $34.48 each. It sells flower, pre-rolls and vapes, and slipped to No. 10 over the last 30 days.
10. Find — Find is Curaleaf’s flower brand, sold at $59.88 per item — the second-highest price in the top ten. It rose to No. 7 over the last 30 days.
Nos. 11–20: premium lines and the biggest brand with an undisclosed maker
Nos. 11–20 add $152.8 million. Six are MSO house brands. The set also holds the largest brand in the state whose New Jersey maker isn’t public (Rove), the only New Jersey-based vertically integrated operator in the top 20 (Breakwater), and the sharpest fall in the top 50 (Verano’s namesake line).

11. Rove — Rove, a California vape and pre-roll brand, sold $20.78 million at $56.87 per item. It is the biggest brand in the state whose New Jersey maker isn’t public: no press release, filing or menu we found names its New Jersey licensee, so we have left it unclassified rather than guess.
12. (the) Essence — Verano’s (the) Essence sells flower, vapes and pre-rolls. It had the largest drop in share of any top-50 brand, from 2.10% of brand sales for the year to 1.32% over the last 30 days, and fell to No. 15.
13. Good Green — Good Green is a GTI flower brand whose rights RYTHM, Inc. now owns and licenses back to GTI. At $51.25 per item it climbed to No. 8 over the last 30 days, up five places.
14. Clade 9 — Clade 9 is a Los Angeles brand made in New Jersey by The QCC Group in Plainfield. The licensee changed its name from Clade9 NJ to The QCC Group in February 2024. QCC also makes Craft Kings (No. 45); together the two brands took $24.2 million.
15. Illicit — Illicit is a Missouri brand, employee-owned through an ESOP. In New Jersey it is grown and sold by Illicit Gardens (formerly Harmony Foundation), which has a grow in Lafayette and a store in Secaucus. Operating in two states with its own New Jersey grow and store puts it in our MSO category, as one of its two smallest members.
16. Breakwater — Breakwater is the only New Jersey-based vertically integrated operator in the top 20; we found no licenses for it outside the state. It grows and makes in Cranbury, has a store in Roselle Park and calls itself a local, independent grower. At $50.94 per item it ranks No. 32 by items — it sells on price, not volume.
17. Verano — Verano’s namesake line, mainly pre-rolls, is No. 17 for the year but only No. 54 over the last 30 days — the biggest rank drop in the top 50. Its share fell from 1.23% to 0.48%. The data doesn’t say why.
18. Cookies — Cookies is a California brand. TerrAscend has been its exclusive New Jersey cultivator and manufacturer since 2021, and Cookies also runs its own dispensary in Harrison. It took $11.89 million.
19. Grassroots — Grassroots is Curaleaf’s premium brand, with concentrates and flower. It is Curaleaf’s third brand in the top 20.
20. High Wired — High Wired is Ascend’s infused pre-roll line, aimed at experienced consumers. It rose to No. 16 over the last 30 days.
Nos. 21–30: where New Jersey’s own growers show up
Nos. 21–30 add $96.9 million and are the most mixed set in the ranking: three MSO house brands, three national brands made in MSO facilities, three New Jersey independents and one national brand made by a smaller New Jersey operator. It also holds the cheapest items so far — Grön gummies at $19.85.

21. Grown Rogue — Grown Rogue is a public company from Medford, Oregon. Its New Jersey product comes from ABCO Garden State in West Deptford, in which Grown Rogue bought a 44% stake in 2024. ABCO has no stores of its own, so we count Grown Rogue as a smaller maker, not an MSO. It rose to No. 18 over the last 30 days.
22. Kynd — Kynd is an Ayr brand. On June 2, 2026, Ayr’s New Jersey operations moved to Arboretum New Jersey LLC, a company formed by Ayr’s senior noteholders, which still trades as Ayr Wellness. Kynd is No. 13 by items at $25.81 each.
23. Grön — Grön is an Oregon edibles brand and one of the top ten brands by items sold (522,799), but it is No. 23 by dollars at $19.85 per item. It is made in New Jersey under a deal with iAnthus, and Wyld bought the brand in a deal announced in January 2026.

27. Green Lightning — Green Lightning grows in Cinnaminson, where it also runs a dispensary. It took $9.51 million, mostly flower.
28. Timeless — Timeless is a Scottsdale, Arizona vape brand that entered New Jersey in April 2024 through iAnthus’s MPX NJ. It fell to No. 35 over the last 30 days.
29. Crops — Crops is a Justice Grown brand; Justice operates in Illinois, New Jersey and Utah. Its only New Jersey grow is BLOC in Ewing (formerly Justice Grown NJ), so that is almost certainly where Crops is made, but no source states it outright. It fell to No. 37 over the last 30 days.
30. The Botanist — The Botanist is Acreage’s product line and also the name of its stores. Canopy USA has owned Acreage since December 2024. It sells vapes and flower.
Nos. 31–40: national names, mostly made by smaller operators
Nos. 31–40 add $73.1 million. This is the first set where national brands made by smaller New Jersey operators (four) outnumber MSO house brands (three). It also holds the two most expensive items in the top 50: The Lid at $80.43 and 710 Labs at $72.84.

33. Dogwalkers — Dogwalkers is GTI’s pre-roll brand; RYTHM, Inc. owns the rights and licenses them to GTI. It rose to No. 28 over the last 30 days.

35. 710 Labs — 710 Labs flower and hash sell for $72.84 per item, and the brand is No. 70 by items. It is made in New Jersey by Fresh Grow in Somerset under a brand deal. Over the last 30 days it jumped from No. 35 to No. 20, the second-biggest climb in the top 50.
36. Camino — Camino is Kiva’s gummy line. Kiva announced in 2023 that Garden Society would make all Kiva products in New Jersey; we could not confirm that arrangement still stands. It is No. 23 by items.

39. Cheetah — iAnthus bought the vape brand Cheetah in December 2024. iAnthus’s only New Jersey licensee is MPX NJ, so that is where Cheetah is most likely made. It sells for $71.00 per item.
40. The Clear — The Clear is a Denver vape brand, made in New Jersey since May 2024 by Kushi Labs, a manufacturer without a grow license. It fell to No. 51 over the last 30 days.

Nos. 41–50 add $56.8 million — no brand here holds more than 0.65% of brand sales. It holds the cheapest item in the top 50 (OGeez! at $16.91) and the fastest climber over the last 30 days (Craft Kings, up 16 places).

43. OGeez! — OGeez! is an Arizona gummy maker with its own New Jersey manufacturing facility in Maplewood. Its gummies are the cheapest items in the top 50 at $16.91, and it is No. 20 by items.

49. Lowell — Lowell is a California pre-roll brand. Ascend lists Lowell Smokes among the partner brands it grows and sells, and Ascend’s New Jersey stores carry it. No company source says it is made in New Jersey, so treat that link as likely rather than confirmed.
50. Niche — Niche, in North Bergen, began medical cultivation in May 2024 and won approval for adult-use cultivation that September. With Goodies, it has two brands in the top 50.
Who makes the money

Ascend is the biggest maker of top-50 dollars in New Jersey, and it earns more from other companies’ brands than anyone else. Its own Ozone, Simply Herb and High Wired took $77.3 million. Airo, Miss Grass and Lowell, national brands made in its facilities, added $22.9 million. TerrAscend makes $17.9 million of Cookies and Wana on top of its own Legend and Kind Tree. iAnthus is the clearest partner-driven case: $19.0 million of its $25.5 million comes from Grön and Timeless.
GTI’s four brands in the top 50 — Rythm, Good Green, Dogwalkers and &Shine — are now owned on paper by RYTHM, Inc., which bought the rights in August 2025 and licenses them to GTI. Since April 2026 that license costs GTI a fixed $70 million a year across its seven licensed brands. GTI still grows, makes and sells them.
The last 30 days

The same 50 brands held 69.2% of brand sales between August 22 and September 20, against 70.5% for the year. Nearly all of that slide was MSO house brands, down 1.8 points. New Jersey independents were the only group to gain meaningfully, up 0.6 points; every other group held within a tenth of a point.

Sixteen top-50 brands moved five or more places. Three of the five climbers are MSO house brands, but the two biggest, Craft Kings and 710 Labs, come from smaller New Jersey operators. The largest fall was Verano’s namesake line, down 37 places. Encore, The Clear, The Lid, Crops, Niche, Timeless and Superflux each dropped seven or more.
Thirty days is a short window, and a rank can move on a single promotion, a new product or a supply gap. Treat these moves as signals to watch, not trends.
Ownership changes behind the numbers
- Ayr → Arboretum. Ayr Wellness’s New Jersey operations moved to Arboretum New Jersey LLC on June 2, 2026. The new owner, formed by Ayr’s senior noteholders, still trades as Ayr. Kynd and Later Days are listed under Ayr here because that is how they are sold.
- The Cannabist is leaving. The Cannabist Company (formerly Columbia Care) is exiting New Jersey, according to NJBIZ. Its three dispensaries are going to Vireo Growth, and its two Vineland cultivation sites close on October 11, 2026. None of its brands made the top 50.
- TerrAscend added a fifth store, closing its purchase of the Aunt Mary’s dispensary on September 16, 2026.
- Wyld bought Grön in a deal announced in January 2026, so two top-50 edible brands now share an owner.
Method
Sales are Lit Alerts estimates of retail sell-through, not point-of-sale reporting. The year-to-date window is January 1 – September 21, 2026. The statewide store and daily files total $1,019.9 million. The brand file totals $970.8 million across 804 brands (787 with sales), so about 4.8% of sales carry no brand tag. Shares in this article are shares of brand-tagged sales.
The brand export can’t be trimmed by day, so the year-to-date figures include September 21, the final day of the pull. That day was $3.29 million, 0.3% of the total. “Last 30 days” uses the separate August 22 – September 20 export. Price per item is estimated value divided by estimated units, across every category a brand sells.
Ownership and New Jersey makers were checked against company releases, SEC filings, CRC license and meeting documents, and trade press (NJBIZ, Cannabis Business Times, MJBizDaily, Heady NJ, ROI-NJ). Four links are inferred rather than stated by a source: Crops → BLOC, Cheetah → MPX NJ, Lowell → Ascend, and Swift Lifts, Verano and Superflux → their parents’ New Jersey licensees. Each is flagged in that brand’s note and on its carousel slide. The 75-cultivator count comes from the CRC’s permitted-business register, last updated September 21, 2026. New Jersey requires the licensee’s name on every package, so a label settles any of these links.
